Oakland Tech advances in state basketball tournament
Oakland High boys basketball pulls off road win

Oakland Tech defeated McClatchy High School-Sacramento 62-50 in the Division 1 2023 CIF girls’ basketball tournament Tuesday at Oakland Tech.
In the first round, McClatchy scored first, capitalizing on fouls committed by Tech. But once Tech settled into its game plan, it was able to keep pace with McClatchy and led 29-27 at the half. From there, Tech took control offensively and, with quality scoring from Taliyah Logwood, the Bulldogs pulled away with the victory. Logwood stepped up for the Bulldogs offensively as starter Sophia Askew-Goncalves was limited in the game because of to an injury that occurred before the game.
With its first win in the Division 1 tournament, Oakland Tech will host the next round of the tournament ay 5 p.m. Thursday against Pinewood High.

Boys: Tech defeated Urban High School 61-42 in the first round of the Division III Boys’ basketball tournament.
Tech dominated offensively early, using its speed and size to its advantage, outscoring Urban 30-16 at the end of the half. From there, the Bulldogs continued to outperform Urban as Tech cruised into its first-round victory. Ardarius Gates helped the Bulldogs greatly in the game, scoring 22 points in the game to lead the team.
With its first win in the Division III Boys’ basketball tournament, Oakland Tech will host the next round of the tournament at Oakland Tech against Lincoln High School on Thursday, March 2nd at 7:00 pm. Oakland High, 78-50 winners over host Ponderosa on Tuesday, hosts No. 15 seed Belmont on Thursday at 7 p.m.
